Whys is new WD N600 router not connecting to internet w/ new HP desktop?
I confirmed that all wires are connected as shown on the set up disc but when it checks my connection, it fails. Both are brand new & not configured for anything else. The modem is Motorola & about 7 years old. Could that have anything to do w/ it? What do I do?

Most modems will only allow one device to connect to the Internet through them. Usually that is your router, which in turns shares the connection among all your other devices. It sounds like the problem is that when you disconnected your old router, the modem was still "locked on" to it so when you connected the new router it would not let it connect. Luckily the solution is simple: reboot the modem and give it about 60 seconds to boot back up, then reboot the new router.
