What do I need to do to own a website?
I am making a social media type website with my friend and we are at the final stages of developing the website. Before we publish the website, should we talk to a lawyer? I want this to be a business and something I do as a full time job. Would a lawyer help create a terms and conditions and privacy policy? What are the final steps into making a website go live?

I think there is no need for lawyer for website to be live at starting level. You can create your own term and conditions at basic level. If you are planning for big level then TC must be copy right otherwise any company can update TC contents suitable their agency.

If you will registered your agency name. Then no one can take same name or similar name. If you are booking domain name you should choose multiple domain name like.... abcd.com, abcd.org, abcd.uk, ab-cd.com. There are more than 100s of domain name for similar name. Any one can choose these name if available.

There are some software companies which provides free guidance for website development, marketing, business networking. Also work on partnership basis in some cases. You can ask with http://WWW.WEBINFOSYS.IN
