How come people never check their facebook message but write on their facebook status??????

It's weird,lol.i mean like the other day i wrote to my cousin on facebook but he never wrote back and he did go online because today i went on his profile and he wrote about something on his status 11 hours ago.that kinda hurted my feeling i mean sended u a message but he never wrote back.
