I need help Advertising for my small business. please!?
I have a small business i want to start - Mobile Headlight restoration. i wanted to charge - $40 for the restoration

Im trying to figure out the best way to get my name out there, or the best audience to get.
i also manage a advertising company where we rent out large L.E.D sign boards, i have them all at my disposal. - im currently working on a website, and a facebook page

an idea i had was to just put flyers on every car that needed them? is that too annoying? how would you feel?

ive never actually advertised for my self always, for other customers, the business was passed down to me from my dad. it feels different now its for me and my own growth.

Ive been putting them (led signs) at busy roads around my campus, and other universities in the area, but im not sure if college kids are the best audience. how would you approach this? considering my resources?

im a 20 yr old college kid, just looking to make an honest buck, so any advice to this novice would be MUCH appreciated
Smile

Do not put flyers on cars! You consider it advertising for your business, but the policy technically consider it littering! One of my business associates got caught by a cop and had to pay a $350 fine plus prove that he had a legitimate business with a license and insurance. A lot of people take the risk by putting flyers on cars and don't get caught, but I recommend you don't especially since your just starting out.

Something you should do is make flyers that you can print two on one page and cut them out. Go to local auto shops and talk to them and see if they would let you put up the flyer in exchange for a link on your website. Win-win scenario for you and the auto shop.

Think about what you want to do with your facebook before you actually start promoting it. Now a days people follow their favorite sports teams, bars, actors, etc. What are you going to do to get them to follow your headlight restoration or L.E.D.sign business. It's not likely that they will need your service frequently so why would they follow you? Not trying to knock you down, but to get you thinking of how you'll get people to keep coming back to your facebook.

Another good idea is to find people you know that need headlight restoration and tell them that you'll restore the headlights for free if they give out 20% off coupons to friends. They may refer you or they might blow you off, but what I've found is that people want to see young ambitious people succeed, so my guess is that they will honestly try to help you out.

If you have any more ideas you want to run by me feel free to shoot me an email at creativeelevations @ gmail dot com

I'm a 23 year old entrepreneur so I can relate to starting up a business from scratch. I started my first business when I was 18 and sold it a couple of years later for $20K, so that I could move on to other ventures.

Use social media. It's very effective and inexpensive. Look for a website that helps promote small business such as http://www.40Billion.com They will also help you upload up your business plan and video tool.
