Can we make a Facebook application on our own?

Hi, I get some weird ideas of applications one would like to use on Facebook rather than those stupid quizzes on it. Is there any software or a method a layman like me can use to create it and start applyin on FB?

Facebook applications require an knowledge of PHP/MySQL/HTML as they are coded scripts of coarse you also need to know FBML (facebook markup language) to get the whole thing running.

If you had a great idea for an app you could visit the Facebook forums and look under jobs, there are app developers there that may be able to help you swap and idea for a script maybe, may need to pay for it also I don't know.

The person above me is right though, there are applications that build applications out there but dont expect to create the next big craze with it as it will be pretty basic.
