DNS problem with Windows 8?
To start off, I am using Windows 8. I did not upgrade to 8.1.
I was using my laptop as normal one day when suddenly the internet stopped working. It is now giving me two errors when I try to load pages on all of my browsers. It's telling me "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG" and "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN". I have tried deleting and adding Google Chrome to my Firewall settings as was suggested, and I have also tried flushing the DNS and that did not help. It gave a message that it was successful, but none of my browsers are able to connect to the internet. I know this isn't a problem with my router, as every other device connected to wifi in my house is able to get internet, and on my laptop I am able to send and receive messages on Skype. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as with my luck the warranty on my laptop expired two weeks ago.

turn off the firewall and delete any anti virus programs especially, they dont work, they only lock your pc up so you'll have to spend money.odds are your anti virus program updated and your pc didnt like it. i'm a pc tech at a large company and i've never had a virus in my life but i've seen more than my share of problems created by those bogus programs. they just dont work and slow good pc's to a crawl with their bloatware.

Here try to add a new DNS server and see if that fixes it.
Just follow the steps.
1.Go to control panel.
2. Then Network and Internet
3.Then click on Network and Sharing Center.
4.Then click change adapter settings
5.Then double click on the adapter you use for your internet.
6.click properties, then double click internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
7.Then click on the circle where you see "Use the following DNS server addresses"
8. Put 8.8.8.8 in the box that says perferred DNS server.

That will make Google your default DNS server.

Hope it resovles your problem.
