How do i boost my internet connection?

ok.. when ever my sister use her lop top my desktops internet connections slows down. REALLY SLOW and most of the time i dont get to connect anymore. im using Dlink. i need help T_T

Are they both wireless? Sounds like you need to configure your router to accept 2 logons simultaneously.
Also depending on your local loop, your overhead might be maxed out. Meaning, if you have a maximum throughput (not bandwidth, 2 different things) of lets says 500kbps, and each pc uses 300kbs, Now your trying to jam 600 into 500. Won't work. Only way to resolve this is to get another internet connection or pay more $$$ to you ISP for more throughput.

see if she is running programs that use the internet, scan for virus on both machines in safe mode, see my youtube video to stop programs from starting up http://www.youtube.com/MEGASPARKs

Have you set up a network? go into network wizard, make sure both computers are in same workgroup. have you set up wireless security? (wep,wap) google search setting up dlink router security...

There is no way.. I've been stuck with this problem for so long.. If there is a solution, I'd love to know it..
