Yeah you can... but than it requires long period of time and efforts.

You have to manually find the free submission sites and than submitting your site in them. Doing all the link exchange to make some quality backlinks, need to do forum posting and blog commenting but these are not so tough, but the most tough thing is writing articles to submit them in different article directories
