Do you have to have a wall jack for wifi?

Okay I'm living at a friends house and he don't have a cable jack in the wall and he don't want to have wholes put in his wall is there anyway to connect to the wifi without having a wall jack

Of course the WiFi itself is wireless, but for internet access you need some sort of internet connection somewhere to whatever device does the WiFi (typically either wired or mobile data internet).

Or assuming you have an internet connection of some kind somewhere, another option is powerline network where you just need a module plugged into an AC wall outlet near modem or router and another module in an AC outlet were you want network access. Some modules are even WiFi modules instead of ethernet.
