Question about internet connection speed?

When I just tested my internet connection speed on http://www.speedtest.net it told me that my download speed was 1523kb/s, and my upload speed was 79kb/s. When I download a file off the internet, my maximum download speed only goes up to about 185kb/s. Why is that?

Depends entirely on the speed of the server and the speed of the internet connection between that server, to your internet provider to you which alot gets lost in the process. This basically is just measuring your cap on internet speed that your internet provider sets.
