Why so guys ask for email and not number?

I ran into an old classmate and when I suggested we keep in touch he asks for my email and not number. Why?

Maybe he doesn't have a cell phone, or it's prepaid so he doesn't have a lot of minutes.

maybe they don't have enough load to use for texting? lol . and another thing is that they might want videochat something liek that and you know..it's easier to stalk a person when you know his/her email address. like you can have his/her IG, twitter, and facebook as well....Or, if you're not close with the classmate you wanted to keep in touch with, he/she might just be laying safe cus he/she doesn't yet know you well. I hoped this helped

1. Texting is stupid and hard. And gets confusing when two people who type differently can't understand the other person.

2. Texting is expensive sometimes.

3. He might want to get to know you better other ways. For example skype and videochat means he can talk to you from another place, words on a computer screen don't build friendships or relationships.

4. Maybe to find out more about you. What the other answer said could be true, he could be stalking online. Or maybe he actually just needs to see what kind of person you are to know if you're the one to him. Maybe if he hates girl's who go out and get drunk and sees pictures of her drunk at parties on facebook, then he would know firsthand instead of later on.

5. Other reasons. We could go all day.
