A lot of people seem to use twitter. What advantage does it have over just facebook?

From my understanding, twitter is just the section of facebook that says whoever is currently doing what.
And twitter makes that into a broadcast and also keeps a log of your activities. Is that it?

Twitter is a completely different website from facebook. You don't need a twitter to have a facebook nor do you need a facebook to have a twitter. I'm not up on the whole "using my phone to post to facebook" thing, but I do know that you can get texts from people you follow on twitter...I follow Kim Kardashian myself, but opted out of the tweet texts because the last tweet I want to read is Kim Kardashian asking whether or not she should wear her hair down with her blue long dress. She's such a ninny, but what a gorgeous ***.

Twitter is like texting over the Web with its 160 characters. This limit makes people want to choose Facebook where you can post more and interact with people.
