Excel Management Learning Help?

Okay, I am a newbie who is not that great with software. I am trying to learn how to do inventory management using excel but I have yet to find out how I should go about getting better. Do I need to take a course or can I just read a book.

As of now, I just know how to enter numbers and letters but I am looking for ideas on how I would keep track of sales.

Sorry if the question is a little vague, I am just frustrated and have a lot of products and sales that I need to track and I can't seem to find a good way to start learning.
