Etsy account advertising?

I'm opening up an etsy account sometime soon and I want to advertise it a bit with a Facebook/twitter account c: I'm not quite sure how to gain publicity on either because not many of my friends are on either. Any advice?

I have rarely seen Etsy products show up in web searches, so SEO techniques may not help.

You know there are paid options to make you appear near the top of searches within Etsy, which may turn out to be the most effective traffic aid.
