How to get people to call me by a new name?

I don't think my name fits my personality very well (I think it's a great name though, no offense to the Sarahs of the world). For as long as I can remember I've wanted to be called by another specific name. It doesn't sound anything like my current name so I can't say it's a nickname, and I can't say it's my middle name because most of my friends know my middle name. I don't want it to be an awkward transition, but everybody knows me by Sarah. I've looked at previous questions about this on here and mostly everyone says to just introduce yourself to new people differently, but what if I give them my social media websites and they question why I lied about my name? It's really fine people have nicknames that are not slightly related to their names, I never ask why or even if I do it doesn't seem to bother the person. I just want to know the reason of their nickname, they could always say that's what I like to be called and I would be happy with their answer.
