Affiliates What is the purpose of having a landing page?
If you already have a professional domain name that goes to the product you are trying to sell, what's the purpose of having a landing page?

Note: all unjust comments will be reported.
Is it better with a landing page? How?

Landing pages' content is tailored to follow up on the thought that brought people to the page, often a paid keyword search. Not clear what the purpose of your domain name would otherwise be.

Those using paid banner ads have the choice of linking directly to the merchant's sales page or sending people to an intermediate landing page, where some pre-sell information is provided to warm up a prospect, sometimes these have the form of an advertorial, that looks like informative content, sort of like a TV infomercial. One may have to test to determine of direct linking or a presell page converts better.

Google Adwords has very high standards, people say Google hates affiliates, they definitely don't want ads going to deceiving, low quality pages, to avoid rejection and to get a better quality score & lower click costs a page has to be a part of a larger site with privacy and terms and conditions links. Direct linking to a sales page almost never works with Adwords.

Landing pages, also known as squeeze pages. Main function is to collect emails so you can market to your prospects over and over again. Creating a landing page involves persuasive copywriting and often you will offer an ethical 'freebie bribe' (eg. free report/ trials/ discount coupon) in exchange for emails, tel. / contact information. Landing pages offers you a great way to test your offers plus also build a list of buyers whom you can continuously connect and market to them.
