why FACEBOOK has no competitor?
when I come to America from Asia, I realize that many "HUGE" IT companies has no major competitor. Such as, FaceBook, youtube, twitter, and so on.
But in Asia, there are 10 or 20 strong companies who operate some videos-website just like youtube. each of them takes up part of the market of video-sharing website. also, like facebook, and twitter, blog, micro-blog, and so on. There are many different companies are running their own business and have their own customers. Unlike in America, youtube, facebook, google, twitter, blog, myspace ....are like monopolies and "trusts". I don't know why? it is because of patent issues or these huge companies are doing very well so people choose them without any considering? Ads |

They all have many competitors.
But the west is very mainstream. And there would be no point using a social networking site if none of your friends use it... Facebook got to the top thanks to its originality and you could say it has optimised social networking. Same applies to video websites. Youtube has pretty much everything so why would you want another one? There are specialist video websites such as VideoJug and Megavideo which which have their own advantages. |
