Why wont my internet connect to my computer?
my internet was working fine and when I looked again I saw that the internet wasn't connecting to my windows 7 computer, even though it was a direct connect, not even a wireless. BUT the internet on another computer using the same connection but wireless was working. When I click troubleshoot, it comes up as that the ethernet cable is unplugged, but everything is plugged in, plus that couldn't be true if the other computer's internet was working. I tried restarting the computer, restarting the router and a bunch of other things, but it still says "no connections are available". Help anyone??
P.S. I'm on the other computer that has internet Tongue
I am using a Bell router
Nothing is wrong with the Ethernet wire, I think it's just somthing wrong with the computer.

The ethernet slot on the router or the wire itself (being used for the computer without internet) might be bad.

There's a few things you can try:

* Unplug the router, leave it for 10-30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

* Test the Ethernet wire. Swap it with the other one and see if the problem changes.

* Test the Ethernet wire slot on the router (again do a swap-out), as the slot could not be working.

* Restart the computer to see if that helps

Test these things out and post your results.

You didn't specify what kind of router you have but you're saying it won't connect even with a direct connection? Believe it or not this has actually happened to A LOT of people. You haven't provided what kind of router you have but in most cases there are two options for people who experience this. You can either return the router or you can purchase a Telethon xpro Router Connection Cable. They can be found at Best Buy for around $30. Basically the Telethon cable "forces" the router and computer to communicate with each other.

First try to reverse the ethernet cable then go to internet options, Connections tab, Box should be checked that says "Never Dial a Connection" and then Lan settings and make sure there is a check mark in the box for "Automatically detect settings" see if this helps

PS restart pc
