Linksys WRT54GS and Motorola SBV5220 connectivity help?
So my internet has been in and out for the past few days and today it finally quit on me. I have a Motorola SURFboard SBV5220 cable modem which is hooked up to a Linksys WRT54GS router. I want to set up a secure wireless connection for the house, like I used to have. I don't have the installation cd anymore, but I can hook up my laptop to the router with a cord and get on the configuration page by typing in the IP thing. I know that these two things don't like to work together, so I've tried about everything. Resetting them all so that the modem connects to the router first, power cycling them all, everything. I can't find anything on the internet to help.
Other info:
The best password protection choice on this router I have is the WEP.
I know a little about the MAC cloning, but I didn't need it last time I set up.
All (two) of the computers in my house are laptop Macs.
Could someone give step by step instructions to solve it? Thanks so much!

That router support wpa. you might need to upgrade the firmware.
The router probably has nothing to do with your modem dropping. The first thing you should do is hook up a single mac with cable and make sure you have a good connection. If you don't you will be blaming the router for your woes.
