Dumped over the phone after a year and a half?

We’re both 22. Things have been a bit rough lately (no time to see each other, miscommunications, different expectations). On Saturday, I picked him up and had a 3 hour conversation in the car about why I didn’t think things were working, and how I wondered if we would break up. I told him it didn’t seem like he cared anymore. He flatly disagreed and asked for another chance to prove that he cared… I gave in.

On Monday the same stuff was happening—he was telling me all about his day but never asking about mine. I was a little peeved. We were supposed to see each other Tuesday night.

After no contact all day, he called me Tuesday afternoon and told me this wasn’t working. I asked him why he didn’t mention this on Saturday and he had no real reason. I asked him why he couldn’t come over as planned and break up in person and he had no real reason. He told me he loved me, which made me mad.

I was up all night crying—things were rough, but I still felt blindsided as he was the one asking to work things out. His profile picture on facebook is of us and he still hasn’t changed it – I wonder if this is because he feels bad for me?

We haven’t talked since the break up call. I want to call him tonight to ask for closure in person, but I’m scared he’ll say no or I’ll seem crazy. I feel like I should take all of this as evidence that he didn’t care.
