Use adviser sites such as http://siteadviser.com to find out what domains can be trusted. At siteadviser.com, make sure you check user comments because I've noticed lately that there's often quite a discrepancy between the "official" comments and the user comments. I think they're calling user comments "community" comments, now.

Norton are also giving site advice and various security programs give the option of having something added to your browser to show site ratings. AVG does, various others that I can't think of right now. http://mywot.com has one for most browsers and is pretty reliable.
