Can I send a friend request to a cop who wrote me a ticket?
I'm looking to kill his credibility in court and he has a few thing on there that will help me. But I would like to see more. Can I legally friend request him?

Things like this work all the time in court. Yeah but I wouldn't use your real facebook account.

The person whose credibility would be killed is yours.

It's not illegal to friend request someone.

Why do you think he would accept your friend request anyway?

No law in requesting it, but I doubt he will accept

Yes, it is legal to send a friend request.

However, nothing on Facebook will prove or disprove the offense you are charged with.

if there are things on his facebook page that can exonerate you, just take a screenshot of his page

Your job is to prove you did not break the law, bringing personal information about the officer will not exonerate you of your ticket and if anything else it will hurt your case.
Also a judge probably won't admit anything that is not relevant to the case.
But by all means try and let us know how it goes.
