is 20,000 kbp/s considered a fast internet connection?

I am planning on purchasing a new internet plan, with very high internet connection speed. The highest speed the operator offers is 20,000 kbp/s. Is this fast?

If that is the case than, 20,000 kilobytes = 20 megabytes.

A good average for home use is about 12 (ish) megabytes per second, so you are doing pretty well at 20. If it is going to be just you on the wire then you will have a very fast internet connection. If you are sharing it between a few machines and devices it may be a bit slower, but not by much. You would have to have a lot of high demand traffic to slow down 20 mb/s internet, but it could be done if multiple people in the house are all online at the same time.

20mbps is around the average currently, most likely you will get around 16mbps when you actually get the connection installed. It will a music file in around 30-40 seconds (5mb)

Area's with fibre optic cables can get 100mbps+, or if you're stuck in an area like me, and you get stuck with 2mbps ADSL.
