Facebook tagging ? please help?

Basically, my boyfriend a while back un-tagged loads of photos of himself on Facebook. I looked through them all after they were un-tagged and that was it. However, I just looked at his tagged photos again and a random photo that wasn't there in the tagged photos of him before is there, its like it came back or something, the photo? Does that mean he tagged himself in it ? I don't think he did because its in a good bit in the photos as in if he tagged himself in it again it would of been at the beginning of the photos, but its in the middle...how did that happen?

There are two way for tagging, one from user side, he himself tag any status/Photo/videos for his own. And 2nd tagging through friends only with for their status/Photos/videos posting.
