Internet Connection Issues?
Ok, my friend is running windows xp and he is having a problem with his internet connection. He is talking to me on msn but he cannot access the internet from either firefox or IE
The only webpage which he can access is google but when he searches, nothing happens.
Please help ASAP
Thanks,
Matty
sorry Joel, I need to be more specific.
When he tries to search, it tries to load without success but a "page cannot be displayed" page does not appear, it just tries to load to no avail. When he tries to access another webpage it says "waiting for (url)" and then after a while it just says stopped

Unfortunately, "nothing happens" is not a useful description of the problem. Does no search page come up? Does it keep trying or stop trying? Or does a search page come up and the links don't work? If so, what *exactly* happens when he clicks on them? What does it say in the status bar?

Check and make sure he is actually connected to the internet. Control panel> Network connections> make sure all the icons say connected. If he uses a modem, make sure the internet light is on.

If he's chatting via msn, there is some kind of connection. Sounds like he may have picked up a trojan virus or his firewall is blocking some ports. Check the firewall settings after running his anti-virus.

XP TCP/IP Repair. Is Spyware and/or Adware messing up your internet connection after you have uninstalled it? Has your internet connection slowed down and you just don´t know why? Have you used an Internet Optimizer that just didn´t optimize your internet, instead it made it slower? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then XP TCP/IP Repair may help fix your internet connection and possibly even protect your privacy.
XP TCP/IP Repair is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for commands in Windows XP that repair your TCP/IP registry settings and your Winsock LSP´s. Instead of having trying to remember long confusing command line commands you can now just click a button. What is an LSP? Layered Service Providers (LSP) are small pieces of software that can be added or inserted into the Windows TCP/IP handler by other software. Data outward bound from your computer to a legitimate destination on the Internet can be intercepted by an LSP and sent somewhere other than where you intend it to go.
