Can anyone recommend good websites or networking events for freelancers?

Hi,

I'm a freelance marketing communications manager. I've been fortunate enough to get most of my projects from industry networking events and word of mouth but they often seem to be in a similar field of marketing.

I'd love to diversify so I'm currently exploring other means to attract business (I actively use social media (twitter, facebook, blogs etc) and search techniques to promote my services). Besides the channels I've mentioned can anyone recommend good freelancing websites or networking events coming up that might be worth checking out?

What professional or industry organizations do you belong to? If you specialize in a particular industry, then you need to belong to that industry's professional organization/association and network through them.

Join your local Chamber of Commerce, check the Morning Clubs in the area too- excellent networking there.
