Do Sims PC Rom games require Internet connection?

My daughter has been sick, and is required to stay in bed for now. I bought her the Sims 2-Apartment Life add-on, but didn't realize that she needed the original Sims 2. I am purchasing it tonight, but now my husband says she will need an Internet connection to play. The only Internet connection in the house is in my office. Since she will be using these games on the laptop in her room, is she not going to be able to play? Please help before I go out tonight and spend even more money for something she can't use!

no, you do not need an internet connection to play Sims2. There is no on-line or multi-player component. Now many Sims2 players (including myself) like to download new clothes, hair, furniture, etc. and that does require an internet connection, but is not a necessary part of the game. The only thing your daughter will need is to download the patches from the official site, and to register the games. You can always save the patches to a CD or flash drive and then carry them to your daughter's computer.
