Weird Internet Connection Problem?
Hi,

For the past couple months, my internet has been fine in regards to connecting to the web, social networking, wifi, etc. But recently, I have experienced a very weird situation where my internet would stop working every 25 minutes (exactly 25 minutes) and the only thing that I have been able to do to fix this problem temporarily is by unplugging both my modem and router and then plugging them back in. My internet would then work properly for the next 25 minutes and then the process would repeat. As soon as night came around, starting at 7:30pm (exactly 7:30pm), my internet would be working fine like nothing was wrong, up until 10:00am (exactly 10:00am). I have figured out these times as I have observed this pattern for the past two weeks and every day the outcome has stayed consistent.

Modem: Motorola SB5101 Surfboard Cable Modem

Router: Tenda W311R Wireless-N Broadband Router

During the time where my internet has been down, all 4 green lights would still be up on my router so I am not sure whats wrong.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

could be issues with your modem or router, your ISP, or maybe theres a software(firewall for example) limiting your time, but its the least likely scenario.

The first thing I would do is contact your ISP and ask them what the problem may be. They should be able to correct it if they're aware of a problem.

Hello there,

first of all, it could be a fault with the modem, having green lights doesn't necessarily mean, its in working order, from what you say in your description it sounds like it could a stale session.

What i mean by stale session is you may have the router on for too long e.g. (for days)
the best cause of action is to reset the router, you can do this via pressing the hole in at the back of the router with a small paperclip or pen. hold it in for 15-20 seconds then release. Please do it when the router is off for maximum affect.

The next issue it could be is your receiving packet loss from your ISP, this maybe a good idea and ask them is they see a heavy packet loss on your connection their end. You could ask them to do whats called an SNR reset, which means it reboots the connection from them to you this is a very helpful if you get an intermittent connection often.

One last thing is they may have a slow down period which affects your signal and connection. and also you could try and swap over the micro filter and cables going to the router.

If none of this works, log a call to get an engineer out to sort the issue out.

Best of luck.

Whenever I had such a problem it turned out that ISP is doing some upgrades ,but they never say it . I always visit my ISP forum in such cases to see if others are experiencing same problem . For some reason ISP support rarely will admit it is their fault .
