Okay why won't twitter let me send messages?

I've been having a problem on twitter. Okay, when I send a direct message it says "error" all the time. I was hacked, but then I changed my password. After that, it wouldn't let me send messages. People keep messaging, but it won't let me send messages. I looked everywhere for help, but nothing helps. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Twitter only allows people to message people if they are following you, it can simply be that.
Run a full anti-virus scan on your laptop, you may just have a bug, or it simply may just be your cookie settings. .
