My DSL will just randomly die?

My DSL will just randomly die?
And before you ask, yes the phone is connected through a filter.
My modem will cut out randomly during periods of the day and only sometimes when the phone rings which has me puzzled.
The phone is a cordless dsl friendly uniden 1.9ghz.
my modem is a dynalink RTA1205we which is a very reliable modem.
during the day when my mum and i are surfing the net (her on the ipad and me on the pc playing games like Garrys mod and COD) it si so frustrating for both of us as it seems to drop connection when it feels like, when it is going it runs at full speed our line can go which is 10 - 13mbps , we cant get fibre as its not in our area (with the way chorus is installing fibre i will be dead when its ready) it is especially annoying when im in a skype call and it drops.
It will only drop sometimes when the phone rings but not everytime!?!?
I have tried the modem plugged in the dsl jack on the filter but that makes the disconnection problem 10x worse that the dsl plugged straight in with no filter
Should i plug the phone into another jack on the other side of the room?

We have vodafone/telstraclear (our isp) and their advice only works for a week before the conection goes all funny again
the phone is right beside the modem, should i move it somewhere else and plug it into another jack?
right now it is plugged into the same jack as the modem throght a double jack adapter as the jack only has one output slot and i feel that is a problem as well.

Thanks and sorry for the repeat of stuff Smile
sorry for my typo.
we have called vodafone/telstraclear many times

Try moving the DSL into another room using another RJ-45 jack and do not plug the phone. Test it and see if this helps, have someone call the phone and see if the connection drops. Then, plug the phone in and retest. Then, if this is working, move the DSL and phone back the original jack and test again. Some cordless phones use the same Ghz as the Wireless Routers and will kick you off, happened several years ago with some Cordless phones and Linksys Wireless routers. One other test is to run a constant Ping on a known IP address to Google, then call the phone and see if the PING fails. Start- Run - cmd (enter).. ping http://www.google.com -t let it run and test the phone. if it stops responding then there maybe a DSL issue. The carrier can do an "Intrusive" test of the line, but needs to be called in.
