What is the point of tumblr?

I liked this page on Facebook because they put funny things from tumblr and it made me want to make one, but now I have one and have no clue what to do with it... Like do I just post random thoughts and random stuff or what? What's the point I it? And how do I start following people?

Tumblr is a blogging site where you basically have a blog and do what you want with it. Some people make personal blogs and post what they're feeling, doing, images/videos they like and other blogs stick to one theme, like mine is an EDM/cityscape blog where 98% of my posts are either raves or city skylines.

If you want to have a humor blog, just follow other humor blogs like these below:
