URL / Domain Qs : Is having a unique domain significant?
A friend told me that the URL isn’t that important. Far more important is the content and how and where you appear in search engines. That’s how most people find blogs and sites.
But, i am wandering : Whether having a unique domain have any signification ? versus tons of other domain that have similar url ? Ads |

You don't mean "unique". That word means "there i only one in the whole world". That is always true of all domain names (that's how the Domain Name System works, you can't have two domain names the same.).
And your friend is mostly right - the content and how you show up in search engines is far more important for people finding you by accident (searching for "any website that talks about what I'm interested in"). But if what your website does is really unusual, then having a short, punchy, sound-bite-friendly website name definitely helps people tell each other about it (YouTube, Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc etc) Ads |
