Xbox : You cant play a game without a profile?

So if you dont have internet connection, unable to login to xbox live, you cant play your games? Basically even though my saved games are inside my hard drive if i tried to load it without signing into xbox live it wont allow me to do say showing error like not signed in into a profile.
its an xbox 360. my games are not digital download, installed onto the hard drive with the disc and saved files are saved on my hard drive.

That is correct, downloaded games are registered to your xbox live profile. You can't play an Xbox One offline, and you need to be logged into your profile to play a game that belongs to you. On 360 it was possible to license your whole console to yourself so that you didn't need to be logged in to play your games, because the whole console was yours. That is no longer the case. They have not made a way to do that yet for Xbox One.

What the hell are you guys talking about? Of course you can play your games offline. Yes I think you need to have a profile to sign into but you dont have to be connected to the internet to sign into it. Just turn your console on, select your profile and play.

The only problem ive ever come across with a game was Bioshock Infinite which wouldnt let me access my DLC unless I was connected to Live, but once Id a started playing I could disconnect from Live again and keep playing.

If you bought the game from xbl and then got a new 360, you can't play the game unless you're logged in.

If you have the disk, you don't need an account to play the game offline. Obviously, you need an account to play online.

Same with the xbx1. If you bought a game from xbl and you're not logged in, you only get the demo version. Happened to me when xbl was having problems with recognizing my login so I couldn't play killer instinct with all the characters available.

For single player offline, no need to connect to xbl to play.
