Can I use the "call a phone" option in google+ hangouts in Japan to call the us for free? Via Computer?
So I am in the US right now and I can use the call a phone feature on the google hangouts app ON MY COMPUTER to call landlines in the US or Canada for free…
I understand if I call FROM the US internationally rates will apply But how does it work the opposite way? I will be in Japan and I'm trying to find a cheap/free way to call home while I am there. I will have an internet connection…will google work there? I know google voice is only for US residents, but I already have it now on my computer…though this isn't google voice, this is through the hangout apps. What I'm asking is, will I be able to use the google hangouts "call a phone" feature through google chrome browser while I am in Japan to call back home in the US? Will it work? Will I be charged the international rate? Everything I have found is for mobile users to use it on their phones, I am using it FROM MY COMPUTER to a landline. Let me know, thank you! Sam that is not the question I asked at all. I want to know if I call FROM Japan on this program TO the USA, if it will cost me or even work? Ads |

Yes you can but not for free. All calls to the U.S. and Canada are free. Phone calls made to other countries are billed at google's very low rates.
Start and join a video call. Click the invite icon at the top of the video call window. Select +Add telephone. Enter the phone number. Click Call. Click the dial pad icon if you need to press numbers within the call. Ads |
