Saddleseat Vests?
I am a hunt seat rider and have been riding since I was a kid. I just started working with and retraining this horse at my barn who only rides saddleseat and we plan on showing. The thing is I have no idea about the saddle seat attire. My trainer said to get kentucky jodphurs, a tie, vest, button down shirt and saddleseat coat. I looked online and the saddleseat vest looks the same as a normal boys vest. Can I get one of those insead of spending a ton on money on a saddleseat vest? Also where can I get a good pair of kentucky jodphurs? Do you know any good sites? Thanks so much.

I really like ebay for stuff like this. I don't ride saddleseat but I bet you can get some good priced starter products on there.

ebay is always good. You should be able to find anything you need there.
When I was riding saddleseat, before ebay, I got most of my stuff from Hartmeyer Saddlery. You can check out their website.

Hi there, glad to see another upcoming saddleseat rider!(:

Okay, so here is the saddleseat attire :
- *Derbie* - This is a formal looking hat which will usually come with whatever suit you decide to purchase. They are really like dressage derbies except smaller and more 'fine' looking. You can find used in good condition ones on Ebay, facebook saddleseat attire groups, ExtendedTrot, or Consignment shops local to you. ( Message me if you need help finding a consignment shop etc.)
- *Shirt* - This is basically like the hunter shirts you wear under your jacket with the button-up and collar that folds. These are easy to find, you can go to any mens or boys clothing store and purchase one for cheap. Just make sure it matches your tie, vest, and suit! Also, you will not need a collar for it as you will be using a tie.
- *Tie* - Like the shirt, you can go to any men's warehouse and purchase any tie of your choice for cheap to match your outfit. I have a huge collection of ties lol it becomes an obsession for matching etc.!
- *Vest* - As for a vest, you will need to purchase one custom for saddleseat attire. However, you can find used cheap ones on Ebay, Facebook groups with Saddleseat Attire, ExtendedTrot, or even local tack shops with used show clothing.
- *Gloves* - As for gloves, you can use your hunt show gloves as long as they are leather. If not just use whatever you have as long as they are black.
- *Show Coat* - This you will need to purchase as well for saddle attire. Typically they come with jod's that match the suit but if not Carrot pants or used practice saddleseat jods which are black will work fine. You can find any used saddleseat attire at Ebay, Facebook Saddleseat attire groups, ExtendedTrot, or online consignment shops with used show clothes for cheap. All I say is, is to measure your shoulders, chest, waist, arm length, hip length around, around the bump length, leg length, around the thigh length, around the knee length, and around the lower leg length so you can find a suit with closely the same measurements to fit you semi-well. I also recommend you look for Day Coat outfits!
- *Boots* - These are pretty simple, purchase any black English paddock boots from wherever you purchase your tack.

I know millions of Saddleseat Attire Consignments but I do not know your location. However ExtendedTrot, Ebay, and even if you type in, " Saddleseat Black Jodphurs for sale" on Google and I am sure you will find some. Just remember to measure your leg if ordering from online!

Here are some websites for Saddleseat Attire :

And tons more!

Good luck, I will post a photo below to give you an Idea :

Hannah has your entire list of attire put out there, so I won't relist it. And yes, eBay can be a great place to find the pieces you need to complete your outfit...but you can also get a really good deal by looking locally and online for riding speciality stores. You can actually sometimes get a better deal this way.
