You want Facebook Connect ( http://developers.facebook.com/news.php?...&story=108 ). It's only really getting released now, so there are still plenty of quirks.

First of all what type of technology you are using to build your site?
If u r using any CMS then its really easy to do so. If u r using CMS like drupal, Joomla etc , there are many modules & components are available on several sites.
If u r using Joomla or Drupal check out the sites given in source box.

The only real way to do it is Facebook connect, this is still new so its open to developers and you need to get your site authorised by Fb I think also, I am planning on using this in the future but thats all I know about it

You may want to think about making an application, I am making one for my site at the moment that allows people to view, rate and comment on information from my site, you cant collect data from Fb and store it on your site though unless they do it via your site... So you could have a registration link in the application for your site then they go to your site and post info. This stops people harvesting info.

I think the only info you can take is the ids (group id , user id ect)

As far as I know, open source programs such as Joomla and drupal do not have such a component as each app is different in the way it works and normally no two are the same so thats not the best option for you as you want something different...

Good Luck
