My Push Notifications are not working on my iPhone 3GS iOS 4.1 SOMEONE HELPP!?
okay so i got an iphone 3gs not long ago and ever since i have it im not receiving any of my notificatons from facebook twitter etc...i got my phone from America as a gift from my uncle but i live in the UK and got it unlocked to T-mobile.....i cant upgrade otherwise it'll be locked again...

Im not getting any of my twitter/facebook/MSN/Instagram notifications i am only getting text messages and calls.....I only see my notifications when i go on the actual app itself.
Im really confused about what to do ... Is the problem in the phone? or the version? or is it because i unlocked it to a different version & not 5.1?

Someone please help?

The problem occurs generally with Unlocked phones which are not on official carrier.

A simple fix would be installing SAM Preferences via Cydia.

Don't worry, the issue you are facing is very common and every iPhone user who has got his device unlocked, needs to install sam preferences in order to get push settings.

REASON: Its simple. Apple doesn't want you to use the device on any different carrier other than the one you bought it for.

Work Around: Jailbreak your iPhone by using redsn0w and once done install sam preferences from cydia.

Follow The Guide To Know Which Jailbreak Tool You Require : http://www.geekyapple.com/p/jailbreak.html

You should use the last one as you have mentioned that your device is on iOS 4.1.

STEPS: Download Redsn0w and follow the instructions posted here to jailbreak your device.
IMP: The guide assumes that you are on iOS 5.1 so don't bother about it. Just follow the instructions upto Tethered Boot. Since you are on iOS 4.1 you don't need to boot your iPhone into a tethered boot.

If you have a problem following the post, feel free to email me.

Once you are done jailbreaking.

=> Launch Cydia
=> Goto Manage
=> Edit
=> Add
=> Add the following "http://repo.bingner.com" and hit save
=> Cydia should update the sources
=> Goto Search and Type "Sam Preferences"

Once done goto settings in your iPhone
=> Sam
=> Deactivate iPhone

Once done, connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes...
iTunes will think your device is still on locked carrier and will unlock the push settings.

These steps sound geeky but they are very simple to follow.
Let me know if you have any doubts.
