Would this be an appropriate way to ask out a girl on FB?

I met her at a party, and I've only seen her face to face once a while ago, I've been sorta chatting to her FB a bit, and we have a few mutual friends.

I was thinking something along the lines of
"hey ------- , I was thinking, d you maybe wanna hang out sometime ... catch a movie .. go for some ice cream ... ??? or just hang out "

btw, im a 19 year old guy, shes a 17 year old girl

Try making it a bit more personal, and make sure you send her a private message instead of putting it on her wall. When I say personal I mean by saying for example this "Hey --------- I was wondering if maybe sometime we could hang out (explain what are your plans,) I'd really like to get to know you a bit more." By the way if she is the type of girl who is up front than do it in person but if you don't really have a chance of seeing her face to face than facebook is your answer unless you have her number.

There are some things to consider with your age difference, but it looks like you are just wanting to hang out with her, and I am not your priest.

Asking her out the way you mentioned is fine, but maybe think about asking her for her number first that way you can actually have some voice time with her before going out.

I know talking online is the big thing, but actually getting that voice time in makes a world of difference in someone getting comfortable with you.

So, yeah once you get that phone time in, then ask her if she wants to hang out at some point.

Also, if she is o.k. with you having her number, then that's a big hint she is becoming o.k. with hanging out with you.

I mean, that sounds pretty harmless and fine. I met my current bf five years ago on facebook in college. Something kind of similar, talking a lot online, then decided to meet up kind of casually. Nothing weird. Just don't be creepy about it. Make sure you've been chatting with her enough so there's enough to go on so it's not awkward. I guess via FB it is kind of painless. She might appreciate it better if you asked her over the phone or in person, but it's up to on how to approach it based on where your at with each other right now.
