Are suggested friends on facebook people who have viewed my page?
Because how the hell does Facebook know who my IRL friends are when they aren't on my facebook page? Facebook seems to magically suggest these people unless they are viewing my page. What's the deal?
I ask this because of one my friends who is on my list now was a previous friend of mine but we have no friends in common what so ever. Facebook was suggesting him to me. I just don't get how facebook would even know we were friends.

No, they're friends of your Facebook friends. It's just FB tryingto get you to expand your network so they can optimize their ad space.

They are usually suggesting friends of friends. For example, if Mary went to school with me, we probably have a handful of people on both of our lists of FB friends, so FB calculates it is likely that I know Mary, too.

They are friends of your friends, or relatives of your relatives...they aren't just random people. FB smells the slightest connection and they'll come up as a possible friend.

No. Suggested friends are based on your current friend list. So, if you many friends from one school or one town, it wil recommend other people from that same school or same area. These friends may also be friends of your current friends.
