If I wanted to set up a new website with a web address in this form. www.(name here).com and it is not currently a recognised website or one that is used where do I start?

You may register a new domain with a suitable extension from any ICANN(Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) accredited domain-name registrar. Some registrars may offer a very low rate for new registration but renewal fee may be higher for the subsequent years, so you may read the terms and conditions and select the right registrar.

1) first check website(we called it domain) you want is available or not, so for that u can use use Whois lookup (any website/domain provider have that facility)

2) select domain package(various deal like free email address and sub domain facility) and register your website (generally Yearly subscription for that)

3) now after registration you got mail contain control details so logged in and manage your web site content

4) you have to do SEO, so user can got reference it when searching (it is not currently a recognised)
