ipconfig release mess up internet connection?

if i type in ipconfig/release in command prompt will that mess up my internet connection and if so how do i get it to work again?

ps i have a windows vista computer

ipconfig /release tells your computer to send a message to the DHCP server that it doesn't need that ip address anymore. In other words you don't have an internet connection any more. To get your connection back, just type ipconfig /renew and your computer will contact the DHCP server to get a new ip address.
