Why won't my internet work?

It says that that my Proxy can't connect or something like that but I checked with internet provider and they said everything was clear on their end. It keeps telling me that Internet Explorer is down and not connecting, why not?? Help!!
As it turned out it was my Internet Explorer,it needed to be reset,so I reset it and it works ok now. But thank you anyway.

Make sure airplane mode is turned off. Or just restart your modem.

go to control panel, go to internet options, go to connections tab. go to lan settings and make sure use a proxy server is unchecked.
