Facebook Chat Icons and what they mean?

On facebook if there is a green dot then you know that someone is online. If it says active 30 mins ago then they have not been on facebook for the past 30 mins. What I am trying to figure out is what does the little grey cell phone symbol mean.

People say that it means they are using the Facebook app on there phone but they are not on facebook its just opened up on there phone. So if it says online 30 minutes ago, then two hours later there is no active number but there is just a little grey cell icon does that mean they were on facebook again?

Well latest facebook changes fixed the confusion. I know what you mean. It used to be that grey phone icon without numbers meant they were currently on the app on a phone, and with numbers showed however long time ago was the last time they opened the app

Now when they are on a phone it should be a green dot saying mobile next to it. The grey icon simply means they are logged in on their phone but away.
