What is a fair price for an average SEO campaign? Will SEO vanish in the near future?
I'm starting a little security company and I'd like to increase my google ranking so I'm considering hiring someone to conduct a SEO campaign. I don't have a lot extra cash, especially for marketing. A few questions:
1) What's the going rate for a fairly standard SEO campaign? I'm only seeking LA exposure
2) As more businesses use SEO, and the competition gets stiffer, will Google take away the organic section? How is SEO going to change in the future?

The price range of SEO services varies considerably, if you manage it yourself you can outsource link building, social bookmarking, directory submission services, oversees services range from $7 to $150.

There's not much local SEO, you can make organic more local by including your town in the keyword optimization. Of course if you use paid search you can specify geo-targeting so only visitors in the vicinity see the ad.

Although no longer in it's prime, the yahoo directory is still a powerful source of traffic, there's a $299 application for just having your site considered.

Be sure your store? is registered for free google local listing, making it display in search results beside a map.

SEO will stay around, but the strategies continue to evolve in order to continue to outsmart the search spiders as they grow more intelligent.
