Question about Facebook????
I was interested at one point in getting a MySpace page to keep in touch with my friends but my parents didn't want me to because of all of the bad advertizing on the pages.... So I heard about Facebook and was wondering if they have the same amount and type of advertizing?

Facebook has almost no advertising on it, and it is safer than MySpace, I think.

Facebook is a much better option than myspace because it has limited advertising. I believe that the only advertising you see is from applications that you yourself add on your own will. I have also received a few advertisements in my "home feed" page, however, you must click on that to see the actual advertisement.
Other than that, facebook and myspace are very much alike. The next biggest difference is that facebook has many more applications than myspace does but you can not design your facebook profile like you can your myspace one. Myspace is designated for high school kids and facebook was made for college kids.

Facebook is so much better than myspace, there is one ad per page on the left side. I use firefox and use an extention called noscript. it will block ads from almost any site and you can customize what you want to see. I have no ads on my facebook page. It also has more settings for your privacy so you can allow different settings for different people and networks

Everyone has been right so far--there is hardly any advertising on Facebook, and the kind that is there is so minimal and not shoved down your throat. Someone earlier said it's limited to high school and college students, but that isn't true anymore. Still, you have to add someone as a friend in order to see their profile, or be in their network. I think is definitely safer than myspace, but that doesn't mean don't use caution. I only accept friend requests from people I know.

Facebook is way safer than myspace. It is also not limited to college and high school. And, you can set your privacy settings so that only your friends can see. The only advertisings on facebook are student tuiton fee loans and college advertisments.

Unfortunately yes. Not sure why so many are saying it is limited to college and HS students. That is bogus!! More than 50% of these site's members are over 55 and under 13. Your little sister can have a FB account, your mother can have an account, your school teacher and your future employer can have an account and the neighborhood Interent predator can have a FB and MS account. They are NOT membership controlled sites, period. FaceBook is NO better. End of story! And you privacy is very precarious. They both sold you out to advertisers. They make huge money not only selling advertising to many of the the wrong kind of companies for the youth market but also by selling your 'private' profile information to all kinds of marketers for really big money. And you didn't even know it did you! That is just part of the problem.

Check out BookwormMe.com next month. If you are college age you can join and your parents and the schools will be very happy campers.
