what are some map softwares that do not require an internet connection?
things like google earth are good, but I'm looking for something that doesn't need an internet connection

If you want software that runs without an internet connection, you gonna need a few gigs of RAM...to try to store all of the world's map information on a tiny little hard drive is insane. (Not to be rude.) Google alone has hundreds of SERVERS it uses for GoogleMaps.
