My computer internet connection is messed up?

I haven't used my computer for a while but I came back on it yesterday and it has been acting up. It wouldnt let me update adobe reader because it said I had no internet connection even though the internet worked fine and now every time i try downloading something it will say that it cant because of my internet connection settings and I dont know what to do and i need help!! im on a computer by the way, not a laptop and I use a router with an internet cord connected to my computer and its been working find up until yesterday. I advise phoning up the company, it could be many things.
Don't worry about it, everybody's Internet connection plays up. You could try turning the router off for a few minutes and then turn it back on afterwards. It normally fixes minor connection problems and this has fixed problems with our Internet connection at times.
