My internet connection is not found by programs ?

whenever a program tries to update itself a message shows "No internet connection was found " although I'm connected !!
so what should i do ... is it because of a firewall ?
& if so what's the solution then ?

Go to internet explorer properties check out cookies setting .set it to middle if doesn't work go back to internet connection and delete this connection and make new one.plz don't off the firewall settings its very necessary for ur pc...
