Can an internet connection get a virus?
Say you get a virus on your computer. Can that virus move onto your internet connection and other computers that use it.

Sort of, it will go after all units in your network associated with it. Like it will use your permission to enter dads computer or moms, etc and take whatever it wants from them or infect them with a cootie. I think that is more like a trojan. Always connect to your home network as a public computer and share nothing.

No. An internet connection is just a like a highway, where data go through to and transfer from one place to another.

So being connected to the internet is taking the risk of getting all those millions of computer virus and malwares. As long as you get an efficient anti-virus firewall software you'd lower the risk of getting your computer infected.

An internet connection can not get a virus. A virus can use your internet connection and malware/other baddies may interfere with your connection, alla MITM attack, but the connection it self can not get a virus.

A virus may attempt to move to other connected computers through the internet connection or other network connections, but the connection in and of itself is not equipment that can be infected. If you use a server as a router, that can be infected however.

There can be special built viruses for infecting various pieces of usually non-infectible equipment, these usually are targeted and require specific security holes to operate, so unless your running corporation this is highly unlikely. An example of one of these would be if it were to trick the router into "updating" to its firmware, usually by tricking it into thinking its a trusted connection or by placing a different server between the router and its update source.

To reiterate, it cannot infect an 'internet connection' in and of itself, because it is not a piece of equipment. The computers utilizing the connection (on either side) or (in some cases) the router or modem that sustains the connection can be 'infected'.

Hope that helps
