Over the last few days, Apple Mail is not "picking up" my Yahoo Mail from my Yahoo Mail Plus account. Password is correc

Apple Mail and Yahoo Mail Plus have worked fine for several years. A few days ago, mail from my Yahoo Mail Plus account was not being "picked up" by Apple Mail. Internet connection is fine. When I click "Get Mail", I receive the normal bleep that indicates it updated the Inbox. The password is in synch and I do not receive a password error message. My iOS devices are fine and the devices are correctly updating my iOS device inbox. I can log into Yahoo Mail through yahoo.com and "see" there are messages in my inbox...these messages are in my iOS device inbox but are not in my Apple Mail inbox on my iMac. POP info is correct. My Yahoo Mail Plus account is "paid" and up to date.

Any ideas?
As noted above, POP info was correct, ports were correct, and SSL was enabled. Plenty of space was available on my account.

Despite the adequate space status, I deleted items from Sent and Spam folders of Yahoo Mail. In the middle of this process, Mac Mail updated the Mac Mail inbox with all the new items that were residing in my Yahoo Mail inbox.

Problem resolved; however, since the Yahoo Mail account was showing available space, not sure why deleting items would have resolved the resolution.
